Our doorstep apostille service in Singapore is for people who cannot easily get to a notary's office or to SAL at The Adelphi during working hours. That includes busy professionals, parents with young children, elderly relatives, patients in hospital, hotel guests on a short stay and offices with several directors to sign. We collect, arrange the notary where needed, get the apostille and bring the document back.

We are a private service provider and are not affiliated with the Singapore Academy of Law. SAL only accepts documents at its counter on weekdays, so the doorstep part is about where we meet you; the SAL step still happens during SAL's hours.

How doorstep apostille works

  1. 1Send us a photo first. We confirm the route before anyone travels, so a wasted trip is unlikely.
  2. 2Choose a slot. Pick a collection window at your address. If a notary must witness a signature, we book the notary for the same slot.
  3. 3Hand over or sign. Our rider collects public documents such as an ICA birth certificate against a signed receipt. If signing is needed, the notary checks the signer's identity, witnesses the signature and completes the notarial certificate on the spot.
  4. 4We go to SAL. We lodge the document at SAL's counter, which returns it over the counter. For non-Hague countries we also handle the embassy stage.
  5. 5We bring it back. You receive the finished document by hand or by courier to any Singapore address. You can check the apostille on SAL's online register.

For public documents that go straight to SAL, nobody needs to sign anything. Just leave the envelope with a family member, your condo security desk or your office reception, once we have agreed this with you.

When a notary needs to visit in person

A notary must be physically present when a private document is signed or declared. Typical examples are:

  • a power of attorney for property or bank matters overseas
  • a statutory declaration of single status for marriage abroad
  • a travel consent letter for a child travelling with one parent
  • board resolutions or declarations signed by company directors
  • a certified passport copy, where the notary compares the copy against the original passport

The notary normally needs to see the document signed, so please leave documents unsigned until they arrive. If your document is in a language other than English, tell us beforehand. Our partner notaries can witness a signature on it when the signer understands the content and an English translation is provided, which we can arrange. The final decision rests with the notary.

Public documents are different. An ICA birth certificate or ROM marriage certificate does not need a notary at all. It goes straight to SAL, which is why a rider rather than a notary collects it.

From a real Singapore enquiry

A company director at Science Park needed to sign a power of attorney for an overseas subsidiary but had back-to-back meetings and asked whether the notary could come to the office instead. That is exactly what a mobile notary visit is for: the notary witnesses the signature on site, and we take the document on to SAL.

Areas we cover across Singapore

We collect and deliver islandwide. Common areas include:

RegionExamples
Central and CBDRaffles Place, Marina Bay, Tanjong Pagar, Orchard, Novena
WestJurong, Clementi, Dover, one-north, Science Park, Tuas
EastTampines, Changi Business Park, Bedok, Pasir Ris
NorthWoodlands, Yishun, Sembawang
North-EastPunggol, Sengkang, Hougang, Serangoon
IslandsSentosa (SGD 15 surcharge)

Addresses in the CBD and near our Suntec Tower One office can often be served faster. Restricted sites, such as secure office buildings, military camps or Jurong Island, may need access arrangements, so let us know when you book.

Hospital, nursing home and hotel visits

Hospital bedside and nursing homes. We can arrange a notary to visit a signer in hospital or a nursing home. The notary must be satisfied that the signer knows who they are, understands the document and is signing freely. For a patient who is very unwell or elderly, the notary may ask for a recent doctor's memo confirming the patient can understand and make decisions. Please check visiting hours and any ward rules with the hospital before we book.

If the signer cannot physically sign, tell us in advance. Whether another method is acceptable depends on the document and the destination country, and the notary decides.

Hotels and serviced apartments. Guests staying in Singapore short-term can meet the notary in the hotel lobby or a meeting room. Bring your original passport. We return finished documents to your hotel before your check-out date where the timing allows.

Homes. We visit HDB flats, condominiums and landed homes. For elderly parents signing a power of attorney, family members can be present, but the notary may speak to the signer alone for a few minutes to confirm they are acting of their own free will.

Doorstep pickup charges and timing

Government fees stay exactly the same whether you visit our office or we come to you. The doorstep part adds:

  • a pickup and return fee, from SGD 20 per order, plus SGD 15 for Sentosa addresses
  • a mobile notary visit, from SGD 69 per visit, when a notary must travel to you
  • an evening or weekend supplement, from SGD 29, for notary appointments outside weekday daytime hours

Timing depends on the slot and the route. A collection made before 11am on a working day can be lodged at SAL the same day. A collection made before 5pm is lodged on the next working day. Most documents are back with you within 1–2 working days. Collections on weekends or public holidays are lodged on the next working day, because SAL's counter is open Monday to Friday only. Embassy stages add their own processing time.

Costly mistakes we prevent

Get it right the first time

Most delays come from small problems spotted too late. We check every document before it reaches a notary, SAL or an embassy.

Paying SAL twice

SAL fees are non-refundable. If a document is rejected at the counter, you pay again.

Laminated or faded originals

SAL turns away laminated, altered or faded documents and broken QR codes.

A misspelt name

One wrong letter on a notarised translation means redoing the whole set.

Skipping the embassy step

Non-Hague countries such as the UAE and Malaysia do not accept an apostille on its own.

Questions we are asked

Doorstep apostille FAQs

Do I need to be present when you collect my documents?

No, not for pickup only. For public documents, such as an ICA birth certificate or a degree, anyone you nominate can hand them over and sign our receipt. You only need to be present if you are signing a document in front of the notary, since the notary must see you sign and check your ID.

Can the notary visit on weekends?

Yes, by arrangement. Notary appointments are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 6pm, and on weekday evenings until 9pm, with a supplement from SGD 29. The notarisation can be done at the weekend, but SAL's counter is closed on weekends and public holidays, so the apostille itself is added on the next working day.

Can you notarise for a patient in hospital?

Yes, in most cases. A notary can visit a patient's bedside if the patient can understand the document and sign willingly. The notary may ask for a recent doctor's memo confirming the patient's condition to make decisions. Please check ward visiting rules first and tell us if the patient cannot hold a pen.

What ID must the signer show the notary?

The signer must show an original, valid photo ID. Singapore citizens and PRs usually show their NRIC; foreign residents show their passport, and often their pass card as well. Photocopies and photos on a phone are not accepted. The name on the ID should match the name on the document exactly.

Can you visit our office for several directors at once?

Yes. A notary can witness several directors signing in one visit at your office. Each director must attend in person with original ID. On the notary scale, the second signer on the same document costs SGD 20 and each further signer SGD 10, so grouping signatures in one visit keeps costs down.
